Syed Ibrahim & Co was founded by Syed Ibrahim bin Syed Abdul Rahman in 1975 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The firm began as general practice and evolved into practice that focus on corporate and business laws.

Dispute Resolution

Syed Ibrahim & Co represents clients in civil and commercial disputes at all stages starting from pre-action negotiations to court proceedings and closing of settlement arrangements.

We are often engaged by corporations and individuals that are involved in complicated disputes relating to contractual arrangements, corporations, shareholders and business partnership, boardroom control, and directors’ roles, duties and obligations. We are also engaged to uncover elaborate schemes involving fraud, forgery and embezzlement of corporations’ funds.

We understand how prolonged dispute can affect your business. So, we work hard towards achieving an early acceptable resolution but we will always be prepared to take cases to trial.

Corporate Commercial

Syed Ibrahim & Co advises clients on a wide range of corporate commercial transactions including fund-raising, inward investment, mergers and acquisitions, joint-ventures, and corporate restructuring and insolvency. Where required, we achieve your business objectives through capital reduction, scheme of arrangement, judicial management and voluntary arrangement.

Our clients, both domestic and foreign, range from public listed corporations to successful start-ups and entrepreneurs that seek to invest in or welcoming new investment.

    • International Islamic University Malaysia with an LL.B (Hons.)
    • Admitted to the Malaysian Bar in 2001

    Amir is the managing partner of the firm. He graduated from the International Islamic University Malaysia with an LL.B (Hons.). He read in the Chambers of Zul Rafique & Partners under the guidance of Mr. Shahul Hameed Amiruddin, a senior partner of Zul Rafique & Partners and was admitted to the Malaysian Bar in 2001. He started his practice at Zul Rafique & Partners before joining Syed Ibrahim & Co as a partner in 2004. Amir had advised on numerous prominent industry players on corporate exercises ranging from mergers & acquisitions, joint-ventures, corporate commercial advisory and corporate conveyancing in various industries including energy and power, oil and gas, telecommunication and construction

    Mak was admitted to the Malaysian Bar in 1999. He was practising at several leading legal firms in Malaysia including Zul Rafique & Partners and Kadir, Andri & Partners before joining Syed Ibrahim & Co as a partner of the firm in 2015. Mak has in-depth expertise in the areas of corporate insolvency, corporate restructuring, and corporate and commercial litigation. Mak was also involved in and advised on schemes of arrangement and capital reduction exercise which were required to complete several high-profile take-overs, mergers and acquisitions and restructuring exercises in Malaysia.

    Izzul read in the Chambers of Messrs Bhadarul Baharain & Partners and was called to the Malaysian Bar in 2012. He then joined Messrs Jeevaretnam & Co in 2013 before leaving the firm in 2016 to join Syed Ibrahim & Co as an Associate and subsequently as a Senior Associate in 2017. He was appointed as a partner of the firm in 2020. Izzul has expertise in the areas of corporate insolvency, corporate restructuring, and corporate and commercial litigation.
